Follow Up Questions: Brian

Following Brian's visit last week, Blake had a question:
  • According to some data from PayScale, Inc., workers in the gaming industry who worked 10-19 years in the industry made less than those in 5-9 years. Why might that be?

  1. Not being in the gaming industry, I can only guess why that might be.

The gaming industry's primary market (customers that buy games) are people in the age group of 10 to 30 years old. People who play games probably make the best game designers and programmers because they understand the current trends and are most likely to come up with new popular trends. My guess is that once they get in their 30s they might loose touch with what the younger generation is interested in. If that is the case, then that would make those programmers with 5-9 years of experience (assuming they are between 25 and 30 years old) the best suited and most valuable programmers for video games.
