If I or someone I know is in danger of committing suicide, I know where to go to stop it from happening. I can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK(8255). They can give me advice with stopping the suicide. They can also help me make better decisions and tell me how to solve my problems another way. I can also get help from the Suicide Awareness Voices of Education or SAVE. Volunteers from SAVE will come and teach me the bad things suicide does. I can learn how to find a way to avoid depression and if I get depressed, how to cure it. Anyone can go to these people too. They will do their best to make sure that they help the person at risk and save a life.
After a week of recording the amount of sleep you receive each night, what patterns or observations can you make. How does the amount of sleep your receive compared to the suggested amount? Describe the sleep habits your exhibited and the conclusions you can make from your observation.

Many of you pointed out that one way to prevent the spreading of infectious diseases is by washing your hands often. How often would you say you wash your hands each day?
I know I try to be conscious about washing my hands as much as possible throughout the day especially before and after I touch frequently touched areas (computer keyboards, door knobs, coins, etc). However, I'm sure I don't do it as frequently as I should. I would guess that I was my hands 12-15 times a day. I also use anti-bacteria sanitizer in the classroom along with Clorox wipes on my computer and desk area.
What about you? Is washing your hands something that you think about frequently throughout the day?
This evening, Daniel Pink was on PBS talking about Living on the Right Side of the Brain. His book is one that I read portions of last semester, especially when we were talking about the global economy. He was on our local PBS station, but I found a video preview of his segment on another public station's website: click here.
Not only was it inspiring and educational to hear his explanations of right brain thinking and skills for the future, but he was a good speaker. I thought you all might be interested (at least a little) in seeing who that guy was that wrote that book with the head on the orange cover :).
Here's a video of him talking about Education and the World of Work:
(they're replaying it at 11 on Friday night and I'm sure you all would be hopping to tune in then!....)
